So...after about a 4-5 month hiatus, I'm getting back to writing (at least on here). The last few months have been busy, to say the least, as I have been trying to figure out what I will be doing post-graduation and making sure that I get to graduation, among many other things. When I got back to school for my final semester, it hit me: this is my last semester in undergrad. My two goals for this semester are: 1) nail down something for life after Morehouse and 2) HAVE FUN!!!! My efforts to relax and have fun are making the other aspects of my life (primarily goal #1) less stressful, which is a good thing and will prove to be fruitful--I hope.
My roomates and I have a list of experiences that we must accomplish by May 18, 2008. This, our "2nd Semester Splurge List" sits atop our fireplace (yes ladies, we have a fireplace) and serves as a daily reminder to relax, enjoy life, and have fun.
Now, you might be wondering, "What is on this list?" To some, the list wouldn't sound like an absolutely insane, knock your socks off last semester in school. However, the list is more than just a to do list. Our list is more about doing fun things with the friends we've made these last four years--the best things with which I leave college. So, with no further adieu [drum roll, please]...The 2nd Semester Splurge List:
- Go paintballing (done)
- Go skydiving
- 5 parties at each school in the Atlanta area (GTech, Ga State, Emory, Agnes Scott)
- Go skeet shooting
- 10 new restaurants
- 3 more parties at the crib (coming soon!)
- Road Trips
- GTech game
"Rock The House," by the Gorillaz is essentially a fun song, which asks its listeners to "just get down". I heard this song today an was instantly inspired to make this a big weekend and cross some things off the list.
Bigger than the list or leaving school in 2 short months, this song reminds me that amidst many aspects of life that require hard work and time spent that would not be considered fun, we must all take time out each day for sincere appreciation of life, friends, and family. Sometimes, a splurge is in order.

The sky diving SCARES me, glad I'm reading this nw rather than earlier. I've always encouraged you to be adventurous & take chances, but this is really going "off road". I am really enjoying getting to know Matthew the college student.
